April Lockhart

April Lockhart was born on July 4th, 1995. When she was in the seventh grade, she started playing guitar and taking piano lessons, sparking her love for writing songs. When she was in seventh grade, April began taking guitar and piano lessons. It sparked her interest in writing songs. She spent lots of the time of 14 writing songs and practicing music. Then, in the following months, April began traveling with her father as well as write her songs either in NY and LA. April also included additional topics in her track"Take my Hand. These topics were meant for the friends of hers who struggled with things like peer pressure and disabilities, or even teenage suicidal thinking. Lockhart has her own fan base and is a lifestyle blogger with the popular Ilia clean beauty brand. Her birth was without a left hand and that is part of who she is--but that's not the entire story. Because of this, her Instagram page doesn't shy away from her disabilities, yet it's not focused on her disability neither. The point? We are all more than just our physical self. Our identities are complicated and we contain many different elements. Lockhart has stated on video that she does not want to be defined by her handicap. She doesn't wish to become an advocate for disabled people who only talks about that. There are a lot of aspects of Lockhart. My daily life isn't directly affected by disability. I go about my regular, everyday life and find myself solutions for problems. However, it's a component of me, so I believe it's important to talk about. The journey of self-acceptance that Lockhart has taken is one that can last an entire lifetime. She has been a source of inspiration in this regard. However, she admits having moments when she felt uncomfortable with her appearance, and the clothes which displayed her arms. She now wears whatever she'd like. and she shares pictures on social networks. It's a journey is what I don't know that will ever be the end about self-love. This is true for everyone regardless of their level of insecurity. I think it's important to surround yourself with people who can identify and feel your heart.
